ICD-10 Training Video Series: What is ICD-10?
Episode 1

What is ICD-10?

The go-live date for ICD-10 implementation is looming – as of this writing, it’s just 140 days until the launch on October 1, 2015.

And that relatively short window has many around the healthcare industry, particularly smaller medical practices, feeling unprepared and stressed.

A recent survey by NueMD came to a similar conclusion: Only 11 percent of the 1,000 respondents said they are “highly confident” about their ICD-10 knowledge.

Not good, right?!?

So that’s why I’ve partnered with the folks at NueMD to produce a series of videos that take the guesswork out of ICD-10. And make it entertaining – maybe even fun! – too.

We just launched the first ICD-10 training video, where in less than 3 minutes, you’ll learn:

  • The basics of ICD-10-CM
  • Why a new code set is desperately needed
  • The primary differences between ICD-9 and ICD-10 codes
  • What to expect if you don’t successfully make the switch

And later, in the upcoming videos, I’ll show you how to properly format ICD-10 codes and why it’s critical you brush up on your anatomy and physiology prior to the transition.

  2. Good info. I work in a long term care facility and have had some training on ICD10… but need more and more people in our facility to have a working knowledge of coding. Wish they’d finally put out the final draft of the manual and let us know if it really is going to go into effect Oct.1. Its going to take a long time to change our existing residents over to the new codes. I’m actually trying to think of a new code that would be good to use for my car tags! Only a coding person would recognize it..got to look up a good one. Looking forward to more videos.
