Electronic Health Record Contracts
I just finished reading an article about how to negotiate an Electronic Health Record software license agreement (SLA), by Houston Neal an EHR Market Analyst at Software Advice. I thought it would be a great resource for our readers.
In the article, Houston’s focus is on the five key areas of medical software contracts: the user license, implementation, service obligations, hardware and interfaces, and HITECH Act clauses.
Houston writes ” …agreements can be complex and difficult to decipher. So to help providers navigate the legalese, we decided to create a beginners guide on how to negotiate an EHR software license agreement (SLA).”
This is a must-read for any practice evaluating EHR systems! The breakdown of key contract areas is especially helpful—I’ll be referencing this during our next vendor negotiations.

Great resource! Understanding EHR contracts can be overwhelming, so a beginner’s guide like this is incredibly helpful for providers. Thanks for sharing!
